Cheddar Cheese

Cheddar cheese is a natural cheese that is relatively hard and typically off-white, although it can appear orange if colorings like annatto are added. It originates from the village of Cheddar in Somerset, Southwest England. Aged cheddar has a rich, sharp, and tangy flavor, paired with a crumbly or grainy texture that is firmer than that of younger cheddars. The aging process intensifies the cheese's flavors, introducing nutty, earthy, and even caramel-like notes. In contrast, sharp cheddar retains a creamy and smooth consistency, offering a pronounced tang that invigorates the palate. While it contains mild hints of nuttiness, its flavor progression is not as complex as that of aged cheddar.
